Volunteer Opportunities: Make a Difference

At CMHA Halifax-Dartmouth Branch, our volunteers are vital to fostering social connection and inclusion for individuals living with mental health challenges in our community. We focus on non-clinical, peer-support programming, meaning you don't need specialized skills or training to join us—just a willingness to connect and contribute!

We have a variety of ways for you to get involved and help reduce loneliness:

  • Social Clubs Program: Assist with planning, setting up, and participating in group activities and social events. We offer programming Tuesday through Friday in Halifax and Dartmouth, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Activities include crafts, games, outings, baking, and more.

  • Building Bridges: Offer one-on-one or small group support, focusing on companionship and community integration. This program is more informal, meeting when is convenient for the volunteers and members. This involves participating in activities like movies, sharing a hobby, or exploring community resources together.

  • Digital Support: Help participants improve their digital literacy, assist with online program access, or provide simple tech support to keep people connected virtually.

  • Administrative Support: Lend a hand with essential office tasks, data entry, mailings, and general organization that keeps our programs running smoothly.

Please note: We do not provide clinical or counselling services. Our volunteer roles are centered on social support and connection.
